The new XPS 13 Plus processor is a 12th Gen Intel Core 28W chip, which is a nice jump from the 15W one included in the previous generation. The larger fans that Dell says support the chip provide 55% better airflow without increasing the laptop’s noise or temperature.
Outside of the processor, Dell didn’t break down all of the specs available, though we know there will be some customization of how much RAM, storage, and other options you want. If it’s anything like the Dell XPS 13, which is our favorite laptop, this will have some potent specs.
You can get up to a 4K resolution on the display (though that’ll probably be a pricey upgrade), which goes from edge to edge and looks quite sexy.
Dell seems focused on minimizing the extras with this laptop. “Performance, design, and packaging; from top to bottom, we’ve stripped away the unnecessary and streamlined features to deliver a complete, seamless experience,” the company said in a press release. “The XPS 13 Plus is designed to be minimalist and modern. The sleek keyboard, function row, touchpad, and palm rest deliver a clean, iconic appearance that is light to the touch and complemented by curved, comfy edges throughout.”
It also comes with Express Charge 2.0, which gets your laptop to about 80% battery life in less than an hour. If you plan to be on the go a lot, this is a critical feature to have.
Unfortunately, Dell didn’t reveal pricing information for the new laptop yet. It’s set to ship in Spring 2022, and the company said it would announce the price closer to the release date.
