The new spoiler feature was posted in the chat app’s subreddit by Reddit user Tanto_Faz_123 (Via Android Police). It shows how the spoiler feature works in an advanced beta version of Telegram on Android. The video shows the spoiler option tucked in the same area where you’d underline, strikethrough, or add any other formatting to your texts.
When you choose to make text hidden behind a spoiler warning, you’ll send a scrambled message that looks pixelated until the recipient taps the message to reveal the contents. It doesn’t say that the message is a spoiler, but at least it hides the information in the message if you’re scrolling through a group chat.
With lots of new Marvel movies, a new Matrix movie, and tons of TV shows on the horizon, there couldn’t be a better time for Telegram to roll out a new feature like this. The company hasn’t posted when it plans to launch the new feature or whether it will launch on iOS and desktop. We’ve reached out to the company and will update this article if it responds.
